Seeing our rainbow trout off into the Saluda River

Today was a bittersweet day for our AES@ DFES kindergarteners.  After living and breathing rainbow trout since November, the day finally came when we were able to release them into the Saluda River to live a free and happy life.

Mrs. Umberger is seen here distributing the fish to students for the release.IMG_2683

Every new quilt square makes us feel like Christmas has come early.  We love reading the letters and enjoying the beautiful art.

A Trout Quilt in the Making!

Ms. Doremus’ class participated in a 2015 National Quilt Project  exchange project.  We made squares that centered around this year’s theme of “Life” and mailed them out to other schools.  In return, we will get squares from all over the country to make a beautiful quilt.   Here is our first letter and quilt square all the way from Shelburne Community School in Vermont!
